Dropout, M.S. Computer Science at University of Leipzig
– ← Back to cvWhile I was still registered I had the opportunity to broaden my formal knowledge about computer science here. The highlights from this time include:
- The automata theory lecture by Prof. Dr. Manfred Droste which together with visiting the AutoMathA 2015 greatly increased my fondness of theoretic computer science. This also holds for similar lectures held by other members of the research group.
- The lectures on cellular automata and swarm intelligence by the research group on swarm intelligence and complex systems.
- The continued exchange with other students I would meet in the computer pools.
I started studying for my masters degree with high motivation and a hunger to understand more about the theoretic backgrounds of computer science. Sadly after a while this transformed into the want to build software that actually does something and a feeling of over saturation with theoretical facts.
Taking on the freelance contract with the Max-Planck Society during this time allowed me to follow my desires more freely but it also meant that I would spend less time studying and following lectures. Eventually this led to a situation where I felt I only had time for the lectures of lesser interest where the more interesting stuff would require a bigger commitment than I was willing to provide. Once this realization sunk in I decided to drop out.
